Deadline for project application: Project applications for 2012 have to be received by April 30, 2011, at the latest.

The Criteria
First and foremost the Allianz Kulturstiftung addresses exceptionally gifted young people from all sectors of art, culture and education, from whom the Foundation expects that they will take an active part in shaping the 21st century. In the broadest sense this means Europe is the scope of action. Primarily multinational and intercultural cooperation projects will be supported which effectively promote the European integration process and which have a lasting influence. Urgency and European dynamism are essential criteria for selecting the projects as well as an outstanding artistic, scientific or pedagogic quality or a special relevance with regard to conveying European cultural history.
The sponsorship criteria of the Allianz Kulturstiftung have been set sufficiently broadly to avoid restricting the definition of culture or to avoid excluding any particular sector. The main sponsoring is on contemporary cross-genre or cross-media concepts and initiatives. At the same time the Allianz Kulturstiftung puts special emphasis upon promoting projects which are innovative in their content or method and which deliberately perceive the new trends in art, culture and education from the moment they emerge. Thus the projects often have a workshop character - the active generation of knowledge and the exchange of experience gained is of equal importance as the final result. In addition, the projects for sponsorship should be suited to achieving long-term effectiveness and should invite follow-on projects.

Project applications – the most important at a glance

The deadline for project applications for 2011 has expired on April 30, 2010. Applications for projects in 2012 have to arrive at the Allianz Kulturstiftung on April 30, 2011, at the latest. Please send your applications via email as well as via mail. The application should not include more than five pages. In your budget planning (part of the application), you should clearly indicate what concrete subtotal you apply for, and for what purposes. Furthermore we would kindly like to ask you to fill out the "project sheet" (max. 2 pages) which you can find on top of this page. As a matter of principle, the Allianz Kulturstiftung only co-finances projects, and never assumes full financing.

In accordance with the Foundation's programme the following are, as a rule, not entitled to grants:
  • Supporting individuals or institutions as far as they are not committed to special projects of the Allianz Kulturstiftung as project partners
  • The allocation of scholarships
  • The promotion of individual third party publications
  • The promotion of any kind of productions (e.g. film, theatre)
  • Institutional aid without concrete links to projects (e.g. renovations, instruments, technical equipment and real estate)
  • Refinancing projects which have already finished
  • Events in the entertainment sphere or those where the Allianz Kulturstiftung has been approached with a view to commercial promotion activities
The application procedure
The duration of the project aid is always limited in terms of time. Applications for grants addressed to the Foundation should outline the planned project and beyond that, should embrace a detailed concept of the project as well as a schedule and financial plan. The applications have to be handed in via email as well as via mail.
Should the sponsoring principles of the Foundation be fulfilled, the application is presented to the interdisciplinary Advisory Board for discussion, since this is the board for academic and artistic matters that bears responsibility for the quality of the projects selected. The Advisory Board then makes its respective recommendation to the Board of Trustees, which - having the authority to specify guidelines - makes the final decision for the sponsorship programme.
Aktion KulturAllianzen
In addition to its cooperational projects all over Europe, the Allianz Kulturstiftung is also engaged at a local and regional level in Germany with its Aktion KulturAllianzen. As an independent project within the Foundation's sponsorship programme it accompanies and aids the cultural commitment of representatives of the Allianz SE on a local level. At the moment aid is limited to 2,250 euros per project, two thirds of which comes from the Allianz Kulturstiftung, one third from the local Allianz representative. Further information on this project can be found under projects on this homepage.
