A close look at the enormous potential to be found in the Youth and cultural activities in Europe is a central theme to the Allianz Kulturstiftung. In keeping with this, the Foundation promotes and sponsors art, cultural and educational projects in the spirit of European integration which especially involve young people. The aim is to make a lasting contribution towards increasing knowledge of one another as well as improving understanding within Europe.

The Allianz Kulturstiftung not only provides sponsorship but is also an operative business. In order to be able to incorporate this directly in its programmatic work, the boards of the foundation have been specially structured and laid down in a charter: a Board of Trustees forms the legislative and executive body (Chairman: Dr. Henning Schulte-Noelle), an Advisory Board functions as the academic/artistic advisory body (Chairman: Prof. Robert Picht). Managing Member of the Board of Trustees and Head of the Allianz Kulturstiftung is Michael Thoss.

First and foremost the Allianz Kulturstiftung addresses exceptionally gifted young people from all sectors of art, culture and education, from whom the Foundation expects that they will take an active part in shaping the 21st century. In the broadest sense this means Europe is the scope of action. Primarily multinational and intercultural cooperation projects will be supported which effectively promote the European integration process and which have a lasting influence. Urgency and European dynamism are essential criteria for selecting the projects as well as an outstanding artistic, scientific or pedagogic quality or a special relevance with regard to conveying European cultural history.

In the Allianz Foundation Forum at the Pariser Platz in Berlin the foundations of the Allianz SE as well as their partners present themselves with artistic performances and discussions about specific topics.
