Alumni of the Allianz Summer Academies got involved with the project, initiated by the Center for Applied Policy Research (C·A·P)

From 4-7 June 2009, the seventh direct elections on the European Parliament was held. The Center for Applied Policy Research (C·A·P) has launched a web dossier www.europa09.eu dealing with this event. The alumni of the Allianz Summer Academies were involved with contributing articles for the dossier. Based on an academic analysis of European Parliament elections, the upcoming elections were assessed and analysed.
The goal of the project was to point out the importance of the elections regarding legitimacy and democracy in the EU and to enhance civic participation at the European level. Furthermore, the dossier put particular emphasis on the "European dimension" of the elections aiming to foster a common European understanding.
The dossier www.europa09.eu addressed students, think tanks, the media, and the wider public. It ran until July 2009.
