To internationalize the literary discourse in Central and Eastern Europe is the aim of the literature magazine "Radar", which was founded in 2009. It appears half-yearly in Polish, Ukrain and German translation and inspires an intense interchange of ideas between the young literature scenes of the three countries. The specific characteristic of this magazine lies in the focus and appraisal of the translator's achievement itself because the editors are also responsible for the translation. Furthermore every edition has a guiding theme, so the first issue was named "Home sick".

The magazine is not only to exceed national, but also artistic disciplines. Every magazine edition is accompanied by a an audio book with read dramas or poetry. Moreover "Radar" contains literary criticism, comics, screen-play abstracts and journalistic articles. The magazine is displayed in arts and culture institutions in Germany, Ukraine and Poland. "Radar" has also developed a concurrent appearing online magazine and an interactive online platform, where the writers, readers and literates can communicate and get informed about current author meetings or book fairs.
"Radar" has arised from the grant program "Homines Urbani" of the Villa Decius in Cracow, which was accompanied by literature festivals and established a wide network. Therefore the authors of "Radar" gather mainly from this network. Writers, translators, literary critics and editors are welcome to join this project. The Allianz Cultural Foundation is funding primarily the translations and the preparing editorial meetings.
Project duration: Beginning 2010
