The aim of the competition is to promote artistically valuable productions of German authors on Czech stages, while at the same time making a contribution to ensuring that Czech theater gains a higher profile in German speaking countries.

Festivals in Transition is the international initiative of eight theatre festivals from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Germany. The aim of this initiative is to reflect the importance of international theatre festivals as part of the European cultural environment.

Since 1991 the festival of contemporary European theatre brings experimental dance and theatre productions to Leipzig. The intention is, however, to put love in broader settings and to touch on issues like cliché, Utopia and power.

For the sixth time, Frankfurt on the Oder near the German-Polish border, as a city between east and west, will be the stage for all of Europe. The European theater festival UNITHEA presents young professional groups from France, Spain, Ireland, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland and Russia.

The Festival euro-scene Leipzig was founded in 1991 and is to date the only festival in the new federal states for modern theatre and contemporary dancing. Meanwhile the Festival is at the forefront of all the overlapping categories of avant-garde theatre festivals in Europe.

The eleventh euro-scene Leipzig was held from 6th-11th November, 2001. Under the motto "Body checks" 16 productions - in 30 performances at ten locations took a look at the human body - with its virtuosity, its suffering, its vulnerability and its strength.
