In March 2007, the Allianz Kulturstiftung is joining forces with the International Photo Forum Kwadrat and the Lower Silesian Art Festival (both in Wrocław) to promote a photo workshop in the context of an exhibition of German contemporary photography. The touring exhibition entitled "The city - shades of alienation" presents works by German photographers Andreas Rost and Ulrich Wüst in the Polish cities of Wrocław, Posen and Lodz.During the binational workshop, students of the International Photo Forum Breslau will learn about the working methods of seasoned photographers. Under the motto "People and the City", the students of photography and art will be encouraged by the German artists to "live out" their creativity and their innovative ideas. A bilingual exhibition catalogue provides extensive documentation of the artistic activity of the young photographers.

The lively German-Polish cultural exchange is meanwhile a tradition in Wrocław. At the beginning of 2006, works by Berlin photographer Arno Fischer were exhibited there and they were enthusiastically received by the Polish population. Correspondingly, Polish photography students exhibited their works recently at Berlin galleries "Meinblau" and "Pankow".This project is being promoted following the German-Polish cultural year and is hence providing renewed support for a process in which "old" and "new" EU states are gradually growing together.
