germinations 13 - Young European curators present young European artists

"Free Ingress", Budapest
The Foundation "germinations Europe" came into being in 1981 as the biennial festival of German and French art colleges and after 20 years has developed into an all-embracing European project embracing 16 countries. The basic idea is a discourse between the European institutions participating (Germany is represented by Germinations Deutschland e.V. and the German-French Jugendwerk).Target group is young artists at the start of their careers. Contact partners are the national art colleges in Europe. germinations 13, the new project for 2001, is at the beginning of a new conception.

"Religion", Paris
As a reaction to a process of change in the structure of exhibitions of international young art, right from the beginning the so-called exhibition-makers will now be integrated into the realization process of the exhibitions, i.e. young European curators, culture managers, art critics, graphic designers and photographers work together with young artists of the same age.Following an invitation competition in 2000 throughout Europe, five young curators were chosen whose exhibition concepts will now be realized.
